Brown Bag Seminar: Fred Huemmrich

UMBC JCET

The climate is rapidly changing in high latitudes and the tundra ecosystem is responding to those changes. The long-term satellite record shows increased greening of the tundra, but what does that mean for ecosystem productivity and carbon balance? This talk looks at the results of field work in the North Slope of Alaska that examined how remote sensing based approaches can improve our understanding of tundra response to climate change and describe the spatial variability of tundra productivity and light use efficiency.
