I will present an overview of several studies in which different aspects of aerosol-cloud interactions were analysed using satellite data. Statistical relationships between aerosol- and cloud retrievals are used in comparison to climate model results. I will show process-level constraints on the radiative forcing on the one hand and long-term trends as large-scale constraints on the other hand. Relationships of aerosol optical depth and cloud fraction or precipitation rate are interpreted with the help of climate models. Finally I will briefly outline our future axes of research.
