A passion for landscaping with native wildflowers swept our country in the 1960s, but somehow missed the East Coast.  In recent years, dramatic declines of bee, butterfly, and songbird populations have focused the public on the urgent need for native meadow habitat.  Sara will share the obstacles and opportunities that repeatedly led her to choose the road less traveled, eventually becoming a regional expert on the conservation and creation of upland meadow habitat.  We will conclude by discussing the conversion of a lawn to native meadow on the GSFC campus!
