NASA Exploration Day / Careers in Science
Friday, April 22, 2005 - 07:00
“NASA Exploration Day” is hosted at Cheyney University in Cheyney, PA. The purpose of this event is to expose high school students and their teachers to possible careers in science and technology as well as to expose them to careers at NASA. There will be a demonstration booth of various field methods. Students are able to observe as well as assist in taking the measurements of surface temperature and soil moisture. Instruments available for demonstration are the handheld digital IR thermometer, theta probes and scoops and cans for measurement of gravimetric soil moisture, temperature probes, and GPS units. There will also be handouts available as well as a poster on “Quantifying Microwave Transmission through Dynamic Vegetation.”
