EcoSAR first test flights and a science campaign were conducted onboard a NOAA P3 aircraft in March 2014. The areas measured with the SAR included sections of Andros Island in the Bahamas, and the La Selva and Corcovado National parks in Costa Rica. Field measurements over these areas were also conducted during the same month.
In addition to the science flights, a forest inventory was carried out from March 5 to March 13, 2014 in Corcovado National Park and on a mangrove river in Drake Bay, Costa Rica. The inventory plot data were collected as part of the EcoSAR sensor development and calibration project.
