The main techniques used in space geodesy are: Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) and Lunar Laser Ranging (LLR) Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), including the U.S. Global Positioning System (GPS), the Russian GLObal NAvigation Satellite System (GLONASS), and future systems such as Galileo, Beidou/Compass, and QZSS Doppler Orbitography and Radiopositioning Integrated by Satellite (DORIS) The SGP will focus on developing the next generation SLR, VLBI, and GNSS systems. The project will also address the measurement of the vector ties between the invariant reference points on the co-located systems. SGP has developed a glossary of terminology used within the project to describe sites, stations, and instruments.
