The Student Airborne Research Program (SARP) is a summer internship initiative designed for undergraduates to gain hands-on experience in airborne research campaigns. In 2023, SLAP participated in the first East coast edition of SARP (SARP-E). SLAP conducted seven flights over eastern Virginia, the James River, and Chesapeake Bay. SLAP contributed by making soil moisture and coastal salinity observations, enabling more than ten students to experience flying with SLAP and operating instruments during the flights, as well as engaging in pre- and post-flight calibration activities. Four of these students selected SLAP data for their final projects, further enhancing their learning and research experience.
